Who is really leeching on who?

Who is really leeching on who?

Now, I am no Apple fan by any stretch of the road, but read this out fully before
you mac addicts burst up in flames.
========================================================

iTunes is a vampire/leech/whatever bad description you can think of.
It has been stated by record companies aswell as artists, the self same companies
are also bashing spotify, however, they themselves own a majority in spotify.
It seems that the record companies really are scared that they are becoming
obsolete and that people are starting to realize it. Here’s a little thing about
those comments of “leeches” and similar that the record companies probably
doesnt want you to read, since reading may be caused by independent thought.

Ok, I can see that the artists that create a song wants to generate
a revenue stream. I dont begrudge them a revenue, but it is not something
that can be considered a “right” that just because you made a song,
you will make money of it. Let me give you a case in point:

The swedish edition of Absolute music 66 consists of the following lineup:

1. Born this way – Lady Gaga
2. In the club – Danny Saucedo
3. Just the way you are – Bruno Mars
4. Leaving home – Nicke Borg
5. Oh my God! – Moniker
6. Indestructible – Robyn
7. Price tag – Jessie J
8. F***in perfect – Pink
9. Like a prayer – Jay Smith
10. White light moment – Tove Styrke
11. Idiot – Lena Philipsson
12. 25 – Oskar Linnros
13. What the hell – Avril Lavigne
14. Heart and I – Robbie Williams
15. Loca – Shakira feat Dizzee Rascal
16. Are you leaving – Erik Hassle
17. Alive – Linda Pritchard
18. Desperados – Pernilla Andersson
19. The king – Playtones
20. 7 days and 7 nights – Brolle
21. I’m in love – Sanna Nielsen
22. E de fel på mej – Linda Bengtzing
23. Spring för livet – Sara Varga
24. Popular – Eric Saade
25. S&M – Rihanna
26. Me and my drum – Swingfly feat Christoffer Hiding
27. My heart is refusing me – Loreen
28. Hold it against me – Britney Spears
29. Higher – Taio Cruz feat Travie McCoy
30. Yeah 3x – Chris Brown
31. Dance alone – Love Generation
32. Baksmälla – Petter & September
33. Blow – Kesha
34. Just can’t get enough – Black Eyed Peas
35. Rocketeer – Far East Movement feat Ryan Tedder
36. I just had sex – Lonely Island feat Akon
37. More – Usher
38. Turn around – Flo Rida
39. Please don’t go – Mike Posner
40. Invincible – Tinie Tempah feat Invincible
41. Follow me home – Killabite
42. Animal – Neon Trees
43. The hunter – Melody Club
44. Like suicide – Christian Walz
45. I’m so happy – Salem Al Fakir feat Josephine Bornebusch
46. Jag vet vilken dy hon varit i – Håkan Hellström

It’s 46 songs, not bad you say, but take a look at the lineup again,
how many of these are songs that you actually would like to have in
your collection? For me, there are 1 song (maybe 2 if i stretch it)
and I will push it, its “Lonely Island Feut Akon – I just had sex”

But if I buy this cd, I will be paying off both Håkan Hellström
(in my eyes, a swedish version of the plague) and Britney Spears
(The american version of the plague) aswell as Salem Al Fakir. Nothing
personal about him, but …. no, i wont even start because I wouldn’t be
able to stop.

Now the price for this setup is as follows: (note that I am not a record
company executive, so I cant tell if these are actual numbers or not.)
Lets assume for simplicity that the artists on the disc will share what
the price is for the disc, IE not calculating store profit, cost for
packaging etc etc etc.

The CD in itself is 159 SEK, estimates to roughly 18-20 dollars.
There are 46 tracks. So, 159 divided by 46 is 3.45andalotomoredecimals.
So each artist is entitled to 3.45 per song. Some of these have dual
artists, so then divide 3.45 into with two (you have a calculator on your
computer, you do the math here) 3.45 ish or half of that per song…
3.45 is about 53 cent or thereabouts.

Now lets bring in the price for shipping, subract VAT (moms) and also,
the cut for the record companies and I am pretty damn sure that the take
would be a lot smaller, probably around half or even a third of those 53
cent so we are below 25 cent per sold disc per artist. And they think
iTunes is a leech? I dont know how much iTunes takes to list a song, but
I pretty much guess that at 99 cent per song, the artist will earn more per
sold song then these “collection CDs”

So .. since the price of this collection CD is about the same as a standard
one artist full length CD, it is still the same equation when you take in
effect that I mostly do not want ALL songs on a disc, there are 1 or 2 that
I really want. So, I have to by 12 pieces of what I consider to be crap
to get those songs. Not bloody likely. I would then rather listen to the
song through youtube or spotify, but guess what …. that is getting restricted
so, I am relegated to using iTunes or piracy, or if the device I choose
to listen to has streaming capabilities, spotify.

Now who is the leech? Itunes, or the record companies?

Antipiracy = terrorism?

Antipiracy = terrorism?

The torrenttracker/site swebits is down. Most of you who tend to use this site has most likely noticed
the nice sign at the door regarding first, a DDoS attack and then faulty hardware in servers abroad
wich makes it a little harder to fix.
Heres a swedish article about it: http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/1.2349481/fildelningssajt-har-lagts-ned

And just like the terror organisations in middle east, out comes Henrik Ponte’n and claims responsability.
To me, its a little similar to the movie “Life of brian” and the different
liberations groups that’s there and that they all take responsability
for the actions perpetrated.

Nowhere was there any “proof” that anti piracy firms are involved in this
and despite this, Henrik alledges that “The owner of the site has gotten
nervousdue to resent events” Now, correct me if I am wrong, but
wouldn’t the correct time to be nervous be around the time of the
#spectrial where Henrik so prominently figured?

I can understand that this man is a mouthpiece and it is his job to be,
but seriously somewhere, someone will have to draw the line.

Now, Henrik, I ask you: Has anyone on the swebits team been arrested,
that was actually on that team, or simply some poor sap with the hardware
to be a good seeder?

Has there been a seizure of the actual server hardware? and the million
dollar question: Have your “team” filed a claim against Google yet?

Of course there is propaganda involved in this. Do not be mistake, this is a kind of war that is being fought online, between filesharing activists and monetary interrests and unfortunatly, the casualties in this war is freedom of speech and personal integrity.

Personal integrity has already been locked up in a dungeon and has been severly beaten, to the point
of actually be in a coma and needing life support, but sofar, freedom of speech has managed relatively
unscathed… unless you count a few anal gangrapes…

Oh, come on already. You gotta be kidding!

Oh, come on already. You gotta be kidding!

According to CopySweden, Home burned CDs are at a new low and they
are looking to generate income from other storagemedi…..
WAIT A MINUTE.

We already pay unknown people to be able to store our vacation photos
and whatnot just for the sake of the “Possibility to use to store copywrited
material” and we also get flooded with the latest commercials when
listening to music on the radio. Now they want to add the SAME PENALTY
ON MEMORYCARDS?!? They have got to be joking but alas, I am pretty
damned sure they are not.

Seriously, just because YOU CAN doesnt mean YOU WILL!
I have the equipment to rape hundreds of women every year, aswell
as with my bare hands strangling and beating people to pulps but
does that mean I should serve a preemptive lifetime sentance in
jail, or better yet, seeing as you could count it into possible
thousands of victims, be dragged to the tribunal in Haag
and condemned to death for crimes against the human race
just because I HAVE THE ABILITY TO?

We already pay a license to HAVE a TV, regardless if we watch it or not
or, even if we only have it plugged in to the TV to have that GLORIOUS
image when playing games, but hey … we have to pay for 2 channels that
hasn’t produced anything viewable since the late 70’s when Lennart Hyland
went into retirement aint that good for something?

Either way I turn, there crops up new fees for this and that, I am sure that
pretty soon there will be an “arm bending tax” wich will be calculated on
how many times you lift your arm to speak into your mobile phone, and a hefty
fee will be added to the bluetooth headsets because they make it possible to
circumvent the tax laws. Hows that for a treat?

So in essence, if you can store ANY data on a device, you will, in the future
have to pay a fee for the filesharers that potentially may use this device
to store copywrighted material. Just so you know, in theory, you could store
information in a standard digital wristwatch…….

Wich means, anything that has any form of storage, as long as you in one
way or another, will be getting this new fee… lets hope pacemakers doesnt
have any chips that you can access.

Why? (A ranters confessions on IPRED and FRA)

In a mail today I got a little comment. “Why are you againstbig-brother-is-watching-you
the ipred law, are you one of those pirates?”

Well, maybe I am, maybe I’m not. That really isn’t what my
ranting is about, what I am going on about is the fact
that the swedish government has shown a complete and utter
blatant disregard for peoples wishes, integrity and privacy.

You see, before IPRED and FRA, you needed a suspicion to
be under scrutiny from authorities, and frankly, that was
OK with me. If there was a strong suspicion that I was
engaged in anything that was not right according to law
I was put under the spotlight and my comings and goings
might be logged. All well and good. However, the government
has decided that every single one of us is a potential
terrorist and lawbreaker, so, why not just treat everyone
in the fashion applicable. I wouldn’t say jack about the
law if it was ONLY those that are engaged in something that
can be placed in the range of illegal, terrorism, trafficing
etcetera, but why on earth slap the entire nations face
straight off and yell “You are a suspect, we are watching
you” right into its ear? I just dont understand it, and
really, I cannot support it.

In regards of the IPRED law, where the copyright holders
can ask the ISP’s to deliver logs on who had what IP number
at a certain time, well, to me that reaks of corruption.
What you need, is pretty much logs, to ask out an IPnumbers
leaser, and you can sue that person for a gazillion dollars
unless he pays a small fee directly. This will then be
enforced by the vultures known as company lawyers that
wont hesitate for a second to pick you down to your bones.
In my previous post I took 5 minutes to create FAKE logs
that looks just as real as any other screenshot or log
and that was five minutes of my time, and I covered two
different protocols, the popular Bittorrent, and the old
FTP protocol and showed how easy it was to get what in
some cases are related to as evidence.

In an even older post, this one:  Ipred, Dollars and Businessmodel
I show what happens when companies gets to take a huge chunk
out of the legal systems. Suing grandmothers for sharing gangsta rap
and even suing DEAD people for filesharing. You heard me. DEAD
people are supposedly sitting on the net, on some DC hub and
spreading gangsta rap to all the little wannabe gangstas around the
world. Sheesh.

So now, we have these hobby police that doesnt really care for
your economy, situation, or even if you even committed what
they claim for, because their mistress is named Profit and whoooo
boy is she a mean one. You either help Profit grow, or become
the slave to her watchdog, Unemployment.

Now, I am not saying that these laywers are the bad persons
in here, they are after all, only representing the companies
that keeps the leashes tight around their necks and whisper
toxic statements into their ears but really. It has to stop, and
stop soon.

I know its a horror scene, but at the rate things are going
I am pretty sure that soon, you will find government employment
as mail opener, as peeping tom and snitch.

The government eyes what we  do, they read everything we wite
and listens to every single thing we say, as long as we are not doing
it face to face, and who knows, maybe even then. I really really
feel that some slight paranoia is not unjustified in this case.

Just because you cannot see them, doesn’t mean that they are not
out to get you.

Sarkozy, the enemy of the internet

It appears that the French government has pulled something out of the blue
that really, really is cause for a second french revolution. At least in my book.

Here is the article: http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article5128913.ab

Hear me out here BEFORE you decide to bomb the comment block.
Filesharing is a pretty hot topic right now and has for some reason, become
a synonym with software and art piracy. Now, I am not really sure but
isn’t pretty much EVERYTHING on the internet filesharing? I mean,
you are reading this blog, that means you are downloading index.php
header.php, footer.php, bgbody.jpg and whatnot. So, what is said that
after 2 warnings, french filesharers will be disconnected from the net.

Now, Sweden is bad. I mean, really bad. We have private little armies
sifting through our fibres for any trace of illegal activity like filesharing
and then we have the government on TOP of that to listen in the cables
for possible occurance of terrorism. Oh, this reminds me, you dont have
to read the next 2 rows. Its just to piss people off.

Jihad, Allah, God, Sarine, VX, Gas, C4, Dynamite, Nitroglycerine, firing pin,
grenade, For the people, Revolution, Assassinate, Holy War, Arms shipment.

Sorry bout that. Just had to alert the authorities. I get such nice server logs
when I do that 😛

Ok, back to the french conundrum. Who will the french have decide what is
illegal filesharing? The french eqvivalent to RIAA? Oh yeaaaaah! that will be
great. 96 year old man who lives on yogurt alone and has been too spastic
to even write his name on a check will get warned twice for sharing the
latest of Insane Clown Posse and Blacknuss Allstars. Come on. Dont you
have better things to waste time on?

I am not gonna bring up the classic “you have bigger crimes to fish for” because
it really isnt doing any good. What I WILL bring up is that its really really REALLY
about time that we threw the companies out of the politics. If they are going
to continue their slaughter on free speech, free will and free thinking, sooner
or later George Orwell’s 1984 will become more of a reality then it already is.

I am saying more of a reality because in effect, Big Brother IS watching us
all already, registering our keystrokes, what websites we read and I wouldnt
be surprised if our sexual preferrences where the case for a lot of  laughs
in the secret archives. But if companies that wants to supress technology
and evolution keep buying politics like Sarkozy, Soon we wont be able
to bend over because when we do, someone will shove a microscope
up our rear end to see if we have eaten anything that was not grown
by GrainFarm(tm) because if we did, we are to be summarily executed.

Come on. Get real. Go outside, Sniff some fresh air.
Go lie down on a lawn somewhere for an hour and just watch
the sky. It is beautiful, and for a a little longer at least, copyright free.
